Our Covid Safety Protocols

Health, safety, and hygiene have always been essential to us at Koneko.

As the world continues to grapple with COVID-19, and as New York City begins to reopen, Koneko is evolving our cleaning and operational protocols in order to keep our guests, cats, and staff as safe as possible. Here are the changes we are implementing:

  • Masks will be required at all times at Koneko, by both staff and guests. As per NYC Dept. of Health guidelines, masks can be lowered to eat or drink. When guests are done eating or drinking, we will require guests to resume wearing their masks.

  • While we encourage guests to wear their own masks, we will provide single-use disposable masks to all guests who arrive without a mask.

  • We will take the temperature of all guests arriving at our entrance using a forehead infrared thermometer. Guests with higher than normal temperatures will be refused entry.

  • All surfaces and doorknobs will be wiped down and sanitized by staff hourly. Our space will be professionally deep-cleaned bi-weekly.

  • Our total occupancy, both on the Cafe and Cattery side, will be reduced to 25% in order to ensure proper social distancing.

  • We have removed all soft/upholstered seating/materials in the Cattery in order to ensure a higher level of cleaning. All seating has been replaced with plastic, metal, or other non-porous materials.

  • Disposable vinyl gloves will be worn by all staff in the Cafe and cattery.

  • FDA-approved hand sanitizer will be readily available for guests in all areas of Koneko, and we will require guests to sanitize their hands upon entry to the Cattery.

  • Any guests who does not willingly adhere to these updated safety protocols will be refused service.
